Community support for the Sierra Leone project

Just days before the team from 1st church left for Sierra Leone, a community fundraiser was held at Don Quiote's in downtown Valparaiso.   The funds raised were carried by the team to be used to purchace a large generator and assist with the materials needed to complete the covered walkway at Kissy Hospital. 

 

Thanks to Tony Bertig and the owner of Don Quijote's for inviting  friends and collegues as well as their willingness to give generously to the needs of Kissy Hospital. What a great community to  join with us to accomplish great things for the people of Sierra Leone. 

Thanks to Chris Jackson, pastor from the Austin UMC, the news and photos of the trip are very enlightening.   In case you haven't been following along, here's the link to the Sierra Leone team and their work at Kissy.   Continue to lift them up in prayer as they begin their 2nd week.  

After expenses, the community fundraiser realized just over $19,000 for the project in Sierra Leone.   THANKS everyone.
