March Monthly Offering...Kissy Surgical Suite

The new hospital during the construction stages looked like this.  Keeping up with the construction changes is not easy without someone from our teams on the ground in Freetown.     

Kissy has gone from a neighborhood recovering from war to a densely populated are of Freetown.  Kissy medical facilities have grown from a clinic to what will become the pre-eminent Obstetric, Gynecological and Pediatric hospital in West Africa.  With the completion of the 48 bed Maternal and Child Health Building, Kissy is now a 120 bed hospital that is making a material impact on the lives of women and children.

Our church involvement over the past 9 years has meant that someone from our church has put boots on the ground at Kissy and have been a vital part of this building process. Next winter Dr. Leland hopes to take a surgical team to Kissy Hospital and he needs the Surgical Suite to be completed.   According to the calculations by the contractors and hospital officials, that will require about $5,000.   Valparaiso 1st is working to raise $2,500 for this project in the next few months. With matching funds from the Indiana Conference, the completion of the suite will be in time for Dr. Leland and the medical team in January 2014.
