Costa Rica Mission Journey 2017

It's time to gather a team and return to Costa Rica to be with friends and meet new ones.  Back in 2005, a small team from our church went to Costa Rica to find out what ministries might be a place for volunteers.   Our first team consisted of Mary Lou Rainford and Lois Smith as well as Bonnie and Gene Albert.   We were the "scouts".   This was before digital cameras so I'll have to search "hard" copies for a photo of this group.

Bob and Sandy Coolman and two grandchildren, Sandy Detraz, Bill and Sherry Stockwell, Nicole Sliger, Julie and Terry Gannon, Eldon and Marlene Versteeg, Phyllis and Dean Gerber, Margie Miller, Amy Chiu, Tim Ridenour, Rebecca Rusnak, Mike Strayer, Stephanie Strayer, and others.   I'm probably forgetting some in those early years.   We have had teams go at least yearly from 2006-2011.   So it has been a while since we've been back.   We hear from those who became our friends and they are asking ... when are you coming back?   2017 is now on the books.

If you are interested in joining our team.   We have reserved July 8 - July 16, 2017 and expect the cost to be around $1,700 which covers airline tickets, cost of project, medical and accident insurance, ground transportation in CR, room and board in Costa Rica and a bit of sight seeing.   Costa Rica is one of the most beautiful countries in the world...lush green, beautiful flowers, volcanos, great frogs, and sloths.   One of our side trips will be to visit UBL, the Latin American Bible University where Margie volunteers.

We already have 13 people on our list of those interested in going on the 2017 Journey  and have given us a $100 deposit to hold their place.  Team size had been arbitrarily set at 18... we may have to rethink that.  So if you are interested in going and want more information, please contact Bonnie Albert, bonkay@hotmail.com .    You can send me a check for $100 made out to Valparaiso 1st UMC with Costa Rica in the memo line.   I need to do appropriate book work, then the check will go to Kate Shifflet for placing in our Costa Rica fund.
