Peace has come to Manuel today

Manuel Munoz  1929 - 2012
Just a week ago today, Margie and I traveled to Moline, IL to see our special friend, Manuel and of course any family members living near.  Our blessings were numerous as we were able to break bread with Alicia and 4 of the 7 children and hear stories of early days and events in Valparaiso.   We came home lifted by the spirit that surrounded the Munoz family.
This morning I received a call from Becky to say that Manuel had quietly slipped away in his sleep just an hour earlier.  Our prayers are especially with Alicia as she observed her birthday today as well.
Son Luis indicated that the visitation will be on Thursday evening 4 - 7 and the service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Riverside UMC in downtown Moline.   He was not sure about Memorial gifts at this time but come back to this post for an update in another day or so.
We all know that this world was a better place because of this man and how he lived each and every day in relationship with God and was so willing to share why living with God and knowing Jesus was what life was about.  Even in January when we visited, Alica was so afraid that he would fall or not find his way home when he took his walk to share the stories of Jesus. He shared with everyone he met.  He'd done that in Chile which is what led him to prison for 3 years.   This was his life.   Telling the stories of Jesus.  We love you Manuel.   Peace to you, friend.
See an earlier post for the address for the Munoz family.
