We are preparing for our return...

Our fabulous teens and spectacular adults are a bit slower this morning but as soon as the vans arrive at the school, the energy resumes.   Slow mornings has nothing to do with working hard all day and enjoying the streets and vendors of Panajachel,  Guatemala.  Panajachel will miss us and the money we have spent.  

As for Tocache, we will thinking of them long past the time we will be remembered.  The beads will roll down the hill, the tie-dye shirts will be washed out, and the photos will be lost in the daily life activities but they will hopefully know they have made a difference in our lives.   

We had a special Friday with the children.  We did just large group play time for 1 hour which lasted 2.   They just didn't want to go home.  About the time we were all packed up the teachers and the wife of the parent association, arrived to give us a formal farewell and thank you.   All the while we remember that they are on vacation and one teacher had come from quite a distance.

They thanked us for helping them to install a new hand washing station so that the children will be able to wash hands before and after meals, brush their teeth, and learn how to stay healthy.

hold them and talk a bit.

Lots of concrete mixing and then the concrete is used to fill the pillars for the water tower platform.
 

We are packing up from this lovely hotel and going on a boat ride for brunch and a visit to an artisan cooperative.   Then on the Guatemala City for a quick night and an early morning connect to the airport.   See you soon.
